Is the summer heat getting you down? With temperatures rising up over 100 degrees here in the Baltimore area lately with more due in the next couple days, it’s enough to make anyone want to shrivel up and run away. Make sure to be smart when exercising and stay indoors if you’re not used to being in the heat. If you’re used to the heat, make sure to stay extra hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion. Here are some suggestions for great indoor exercises:

* 5-10 minute walks around your office building or campus
* walk up and down the stairs for 5 minutes
* alternate jumping jacks, running in place (or running small laps), and pretend jump roping (jump like you’d have the rope in your hands) for 1 min each, and repeat 2-3 times
* a 10 min Pilates, yoga, or office workout routine from YouTube
* crunches in sets of 10-20, depending on your level
* yoga in bed!

I’ll admit, I can be lazy, and yoga in bed is a great thing to do to help stretch your muscles and it’s low impact as well, so if you’re hurt (I currently have a knee and hand injury from a car accident a couple weeks ago, and a subsequent fall in the rain forest…it’s been a crazy couple weeks!), it’s a good way to get your exercise in without hurting yourself. Examples of great poses to bring to bed: cat/cow, leg stretches, hip opener/reclining pigeon, reclined bound angle pose, twists, and much more! I’ll see what I can do about making a little video for you guys, now that I have a new computer!

I’m so happy to partner with a great group of people for this first official cleanse under the new website! We started yesterday and hopefully so far so good! Stay active and stay smart!

Til next time-
Much love,
Jen
