Fresh figs are an amazing treat when they are in season. In Chinese Medicine, figs help to eliminate toxins, clear heat, tonify the qi and blood, and they help the spleen, stomach, lungs, and large intestine. Blueberries are not only packed with amazing antioxidants- specifically polyphenols, which are an essential part of a healthy diet and promote longevity. In Chinese Medicine, blueberries help to clear dampness (which most Americans have, especially if you have extra weight, foggy thinking, and do too much worrying!) and heat, and they also eliminate toxins. They benefit the spleen, stomach, and lungs. So while you may not want to eat a cold breakfast or treat like this too often, it’s an excellent treat every now and then, especially during the warmer months.

Ingredients:

1 cup plain unsweetened vegan yogurt, such as Culina (a thicker Greek-style yogurt)

10-12 blueberries

3 fresh figs (any variety)

3-4 raw hazelnuts (can substitute Brazil nuts, almonds, or macadamia nuts)

1 tsp honey (raw or your favorite flavor…my absolute favorite is Bee Harmony Berry) or to make vegan, use maple syrup or date syrup

1/8 tsp Ceylon cinnamon

Instructions:

Chop the hazelnuts into smaller pieces. Slice the figs in half and cut off the stems. In a small serving bowl, add the yogurt, and then top with the figs and berries, then add the nuts. Drizzle the honey over top and sprinkle the cinnamon to finish. Enjoy!
