Acupuncture, reiki and chinese medicine cleanses with Jen Yocum

FOLLOW, WATCH, & SUBSCRIBE

Jen is a healer in the truest sense of the word.  I had been receiving acupuncture for a couple years before meeting her.  When I decided to switch and receive treatment from her, my results were so much more pronounced.  I had relief much faster, also. She is a caring person that has helped me in so many ways.

BYO Festival Food

BYO Festival Food

A week and a half ago, I had a dream of mine for many years realized when I went to The Lights Fest.  I know I'm not the only one who saw that scene in Disney's Tangled and was bummed out that at that time, you'd generally have to travel to Thailand to see something...

English Muffin Vegan Pizzas

English Muffin Vegan Pizzas

When I was a kid in the 1980's, one of the things my mom made me and my sister and brother was little pizzas made on English muffins.  We always had English muffins in the house, and of course what kid doesn't love pizza?  I wish I could say my tastes have grown up...

Ricotta and Honey Breakfast Bagel

Ricotta and Honey Breakfast Bagel

Every now and then, I crave a sweet breakfast with some heft to it.  Just because my life doesn't have gluten and dairy in it doesn't mean that I can't have a breakfast that's *almost* as good as a glutinous bagel with real dairy cream cheese on top.  This recipe was...

Lentil Street Tacos

Lentil Street Tacos

One of the things I make more than anything else when I'm down to some mish mash ingredients in my fridge and freezer are tacos.  My kids love quesadillas (I just put some cheese between two corn tortillas and heat them up in a pan), and my husband and I like just...

Healthy Salmon Patties

Healthy Salmon Patties

My mom is from Kentucky, and so I grew up eating some Southern foods, even though we lived in Maryland.  One of those dishes was "salmon patties"...and to be honest, I kind of dreaded the nights that they were on the menu.  The grease smell filled the air, and those...

Recipes to Warm You Up This Winter

Recipes to Warm You Up This Winter

I don't know about you, but when the weather gets cooler, and those first snowflakes fall, I'm all about comforting, warming dishes, and making big pots of soups and stews.  Here I've assembled some of my favorite dishes for you to make to keep you warm all winter...

Grilled Bratwurst and Sauerkraut

Grilled Bratwurst and Sauerkraut

During the summertime, I’ll splurge every now and then on having grilled bratwurst on a gluten free bun, heaping with sauerkraut. I’d never had bratwurst until I met my husband; his family has strong German roots and his father spent time living in Germany when he was...

Carrot, Leek, and Potato Soup

Carrot, Leek, and Potato Soup

This is one of our family’s favorite soups that I have been making for many years. It is super easy to make, vegan, and filling. Leeks are a milder onion and so the soup doesn’t taste oniony at all. It’s creamy, thick, and more potato-dominant. You can’t really mess...

My Mom’s Potato & Corn Chowder

My Mom’s Potato & Corn Chowder

My mom was one of the original cleanse participants when I was piloting it many years ago, and she had incredible results. She became inspired to create several recipes, and this was one of my favorites that she came up with. I mean, who doesn’t love soup? While this...

Butternut Squash Curry

Butternut Squash Curry

A couple months ago, my friend made me a butternut squash curry and it was awesome.  I begged her for the recipe, and well, she still hasn't given it to me (just because she's busy, not because she's refusing to)...so I decided I'd go ahead and make my own, using...

Vegan Congee with Sauteed Mushrooms and Greens

Vegan Congee with Sauteed Mushrooms and Greens

I created this vegan congee recipe because I needed something nourishing to help build blood and qi in Chinese Medicine terms (aka, I was totally drained and out of energy), and I was in the middle of doing a vegan "cleanse" of sorts for about 3 weeks last year.  I...

Spaghetti Squash with Sausage Marinara (Vegan Option)

Spaghetti Squash with Sausage Marinara (Vegan Option)

This dish is great if you're looking for a healthier option to pasta, and can be modified to be completely vegan.  It can be served in the squash for a fancy serving presentation for company (or hey, for yourself or your family, no judgment- pretty food is more likely...

October may be the peak of spooky season, but many people get scared year-round every time Sunday rolls around and the thought of having to go into work on Monday morning arises. Commonly called the “Sunday Scaries,” it refers to the sense of dread or fear that comes...
